The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association congratulates Joe O’Brien who has been appointed by Kentucky Gov.Andy Beshear to serve on the Kentucky State Fair Board.
In accordance with KRS 247.090, Gov. Beshear asked ASHBA to submit six nominees from which he would choose one to represent our organization. ASHBA followed a comprehensive nomination process in which members submitted names for consideration.
ASHBA looks forward to working together with O’Brien to represent the interests of the industry and support the continued success of the Kentucky State Fair.
O’Brien brings a robust business background and leadership in the American Saddlebred industry to this important role. We are confident he will be a thoughtful advocate for our industry and look forward to working together to strengthen the partnership between all parties and Kentucky State Fair: World’s Championship Horse Show.

The six nominees represent an exceptional group of leaders with diverse backgrounds, extensive experience, and a shared commitment to the American Saddlebred industry. Every nominee brought impressive credentials and a genuine desire to serve. The strength of the candidate pool made this an exceptionally difficult process, and we are grateful to each individual who stepped forward and was willing to represent our association.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to the members of the ASHBA Board of Directors who dedicated significant time and thoughtful consideration to this important responsibility. Each candidate was interviewed, their qualifications were carefully reviewed, and ASHBA board members devoted considerable time to evaluating the information presented before conducting an anonymous vote to determine the six nominees submitted to the governor.

We look forward to working together to advance opportunities for the breeds, strengthen the partnership with the Kentucky State Fair: World’s Championship Horse Show, and continue serving the interests of our members, Kentucky agriculture, and the broader equine industry.
