Bernardino Flores Inducted to UPHA Caretaker Hall of Fame
We have all read in advertisements from Morgan shows that “Bernardino Flores” is the “Farm Manager” at David Rand’s Maine based stable. But if you frequent Morgan horse shows, you simply know him as “Bernie,” not only among the most capable caretakers on any show grounds, but one of the friendliest faces, kindest hearts, and totally caring personalities around.
Bernie began his impressive run devoted to the horses and clients of RAND in 2007. David says, “to watch Bernie develop into the incredible horseman he has become has been wonderful. His love for the horses and the relationship he has formed with our clients is inspiring.”
Bernie is hands on, not only with farm management…but handling the young horses coming along on the farm….the helper you want nearby when horses are being hooked or ridden for the first time…enthusiastic at the birth of new foals…present and essential as every entry heads to the ingate.
Over those 18 years, he has added his perfectionist’s touch to the famous, titled Morgans of RAND. Who’s who world champions in his care have included Lamborghini in Black, Queens Starfire, Queen’s Romeo, Queen’s Proud Mary, LPS The Boogie Man, Queen’s Victorian Lady, VL Zaia CH, Dragonsmeade Carnegiehall, Cherished Assets GCH, VL Peekie Blinders, Merriehill Home Stretch GCH, What’s Up GCH, Blurred Lines GCH, Ledgefields Jagged Edge, Queen’s Sebastian GCH, GLB Personal Advantage GCH, Acorn Ridge Dutch Design GCH, Queen’s Soul Mate GCH, SSLLC Flyte Time, BKC Valiant Star, Firewind Kakewalk GCH, VL Dragon Heart, Playmors Juke Box Hero GCH, Dragonsmeade Kept Secret GCH, CBMF Cease Fire GCH, Lady Alexander GCH, and so many others.

Gladys Diaz Receives Honor as Inductee to the UPHA Caretaker Hall of Fame
Tonight, we have the privilege of honoring a woman whose quiet strength, tireless dedication, and heartfelt care embody the very spirit of the UPHA Jesus Gonzales Gomez Caretaker Hall of Fame. This award recognizes individuals who devote their lives to the well-being of horses—those who stand as the backbone of our industry, often unseen, but always essential. It is my privilege to present this award to Gladys Diaz of Indian Creek Morgan Farm.
Gladys joined Indian Creek in 2005, and for the past 25 years, she has been an integral part of the farm family. While many see the glory of the show ring, the true foundation of our industry is built at home, and that is where Gladys shines. She keeps Indian Creek running with precision, commitment, and love that is truly extraordinary.
Her work is not limited to feeding, cleaning, and daily care, though she does all of that with excellence. Gladys is the sharp observer who notices when something is “off,” the careful hand who tacks up horses for training, the steady presence who ensures clients are safe in the saddle or in the cart.
At Indian Creek, Gladys has cared for so many horses with devotion—Trebles Unchained Melody, Cache, Indian Creek Icebreaker, Stoney Point Cimarron, Tomeri The Regalest, Hollywood Cary Grant, Unzipped, CRMS Moonlighting, SpringMill Monogram—the list goes on. Every horse in her charge has benefited from her watchful eye and tender hand. Client Taylor Parrish shared, “I love that Gladys takes care of Regalest! Her horses are always looking their best, and she spoils them with treats and special scratches. Gladys always helps me out when I am at the barn to learn, and I know that we are all better because of Gladys.”
